Summer holidays week five: Go-karting, zorbing, climbing and canoeing…

After five weeks of action and adventure, our summer holidays programme has come to a close – and what a final week it was!

Canoeing, archery and zorbing at Ribby Hall, Blackpool

At Ribby Hall, near Blackpool, four young adults enjoyed a week of the best the north-west has to offer. Canoeing, archery and zorbing were on the activity menu, as well as a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach to brave the rollercoasters and enjoy ice creams by the seaside.

Some of the holidaymakers had met on previous holidays, so the week was also a chance to rediscover old friendships, as well as form new ones.

Climbing, go-karting and pizzas at Macaroni Wood

Macaroni Wood saw its final group of happy summer holidaymakers settle in before a jam packed week.

Our holidaymakers enjoyed whizzing round the track with go-karting, scaling the heights of a climbing wall, as well as chill-out time making pizzas and exploring the sensory room.

To celebrate the final night of the holiday, the group held a special bonfire and roasted marshmallows, and joined in with a big campfire singalong, led by one of the holidaymakers.

Two creative volunteers even found a special way to say goodbye, by writing and performing a musical number all about the holidaymakers, fellow volunteers and leaders.

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone involved in the summer programme – in particular the fabulous holidaymakers and their families and our holiday leaders and volunteers who share an incredible amount of time, skills and enthusiasm.

We’re already counting down to Summer 2017! Find out more about our holidays, how you can apply, and how you can volunteer next year.
