We have been extraordinarily fortunate to have such an amazing team of volunteers on Quilt Tales One. Everyone participants in our Quilt Tales workshops on an equal level, ensuring no one is left out of our little creative community. Polly, Louise, Durkshan and Hayley have made all the difference to the success of the project and their creativity, patience, kindness and expertise have been key to creating such a good group dynamic. A huge ‘thank you’ ladies for your time and enthusiasm for the project, you have made all the difference.
In addition to offering invaluable support to the team Louise has doubled as our Guest Artist, creating atmospheric pen and ink drawings of the group at work. These drawings have been the subject of much discussion amongst group members about drawing as a means of capturing memories. Many of the original drawings have been given out to the participants and have been received as cherished mementos of their time on the Quilt Tales Project. Working from photos taken during our workshops, Louise has captured shared moments, small freeze-frames that celebrate our tale sharing across the 12 week project. It is the first time that we have invited a guest artist to document our workshops and it has been a resounding success. Having an artist, who is also part of the group, share their work with the group proved an inspirational catalyst for others less confident in their drawing abilities and lended welcome gravitas to the project as a whole. Louise was also able to pass on her drawing and printing making knowledge to the group, which was enjoyed by all.
